About
I am a geographer who studies economic frontier-making in Southeast Asia and the United States. I am a teaching assistant professor at the CU Boulder Center for Asian Studies and Mortenson Center for Global Engineering, where I lead the Climate and Society in Asia program and teach courses on development.
My research shows how economic frontiers are made and contested, from the scale of the body to the global.
My doctoral and postdoctoral research examined frontiers of accumulation from the perspective of Rohingya refugee meatpacking workers.
My two current research projects explore new frontiers of green energy development, specifically geothermal energy. I lead the ‘New Frontiers of Renewable Energy project in collaboration with CU engineering professor Bri-Mathias Hodge and CU mathematics PhD student Jonathan Shaw. Funded by a CU Boulder New Frontiers seed grant, the project examines political and technological barriers to geothermal development in Colorado.
I also compete as a free ride skier in the IFSA Freeride World Tour qualifying series. I also like to grow flowers and see live music with my family.
